This medial support can easily be recognized by its standardised grey colour that prevents the arch from collapsing excessively when running. This running shoe is also employed with the Asics Space Trusstic System stability feature that enhances midfoot support.  

On the outsole, this midfoot support is represented by a thermal plastic unit or TPU bridge that wraps around the midsole right under the inner arch of the foot, offering torsional stability. The main change in the outsole of the Asics 2160 is that it has an Impact Guidance System (IGS). The IGS is a longitudinal groove carved in the midsole.
