This medial support can easily be recognized by its standardised grey colour that prevents the arch from collapsing excessively when running. On the outsole, this midfoot support is represented by a thermal plastic unit or TPU bridge that wraps around the midsole right under the inner arch of the foot, offering torsional stability. The forefoot is made much more plush, while the decoupled heel absorbs shock according to the manner in which the foot lands on the ground, distributing the impact evenly and cushioning the feet from injuries. The main change in the outsole of the Asics 2160 is that it has an Impact Guidance System (IGS). The IGS is a longitudinal groove carved in the midsole. This groove guides the foot through the most efficient stride and also reduces the weight of the shoe, enhancing running speed.

Constructed with synthetic overlays, the upper of the GT 2160 wraps tightly around keeping the foot locked down in place. It is employed with a rich and removable sockliner that allows the runner to fit an orthotic into the shoe for added ergonomic comfort. FIRM Fit FOR SMOOTH RIDES

The asics Gel Pulse 3 doesn't feature is a lot of fancy padding and exotic material like its predecessor the Gel Nimbus 12. But what it does have is absolute balance.
